Normally on Friday mornings we have a small group in our gym session. Today we had 10 people show up!

It was great to see that many people up and at it before the weekend.

Some were off today to start a long holiday weekend or a vacation. Some slept in and attended a later class.

We all have different stories as to how we got there, but what we all have in common is a desire for better health and for being active and strong.

The workout today was TOUGH. And some of us were still really sore from workouts on Wednesday or Thursday.

But together as a group we got through it. And the energy level was so high as people headed out for their day, their long weekend or their vacation.

Having that group support goes a long way with a workout like that! Keeping each other motivated to keep going and get through it.

Some of the group today were friends outside of the gym. Some are clients I’m working with on the nutrition side.

But we were all in it together for that hour with Coach Ryan guiding us through the session.

Finding that community to help provide support as you go through change can be so helpful…even if if you don’t realize it on a daily basis.

Seeing a friendly face you haven’t seen in awhile or noticing the hard work paying off for a client is awesome.

I feel grateful for that opportunity. It’s only 2-3 hours a week, but it’s a part of my life that I do value and appreciate.

Our gym is very open to new clients. We all try to help welcome anyone new who attends. We’ve all been there before and know that it can be intimidating at first.

As you look for your place, find that welcoming spot where you can feel comfortable as you grow and develop.

You may not be able to do everything day one. That’s fine. Take it slow. Learn the exercises at your pace. Grow at your pace. Get a little better each day.

You will be amazed at what you can do 6 months or a year later.

As with nutrition, it’s about small steps that lead to big changes. Give yourself the time.

Learn little by little what’s working well and do more of that. Eventually the things that aren’t moving you in the right direction will fall away because it doesn’t serve you well any more.
