Back to the Basics

It’s Friday the 13th so I’m keeping it simple and going back to the basics.

Here is a list of top 10 habits that I use when coaching clients. They are the guiding principles I live by daily to feel my best. 

  1. Eat slowly
  2. Eat to 80% full
  3. Eat lean proteins with each meal
  4. Eat at least 5 servings of veggies each day
  5. Choose smart carbs
  6. Choose healthy fats
  7. Drink 0 calorie beverages (more water!)
  8. Practice a consistent sleep ritual
  9. Be active daily
  10. Rest & recover

When things go off kilter for me, I can usually trace it back to one these habits that got off track. 

This week has been very busy for me so the timing of my meals has been different. I’ve been very hungry at meal time so I was eating faster than normal which caused me to eat more than normal. After the meal, I didn’t feel so great. I have to keep that awareness of how I’m eating regardless of when I’m eating. 

Working on these habits is an ongoing process that ebbs and flows with what’s going on in life. But if you keep going back to the basics, you will get to a point where you’re waking up every day and feeling your best.
