There are many reasons why people reach out for help. Sometimes that initial reason doesn’t end up being the true reason for the fitness and nutrition changes.
- I want to lose weight.
- I want to be healthier.
- I want to tone up.
- I want to eat better.
They are the vague statements that start the discussions. Most of the time we dig further and find deeper meaning for change.
- I want to enjoy golf with my friends as I get older.
- I want to play with my grandkids.
- I want to get/stay off medication as I get older.
- I want to be more confident.
Many other reasons come out as we work through change. These deeper reasons are what help keeps the motivation over time.
We find peripheral benefits throughout the process as well. Changes tend to impact overall well being and carry over to the family as a whole.
Some of my favorite check ins include non-scale victories related to family.
- Family dinners are more easygoing and include well rounded meals.
- Kids learn to eat better because the parents are preparing healthier meals.
- Parents are less stressed and have more energy to be there for their kids.
- New activities that keep the family moving and trying new things.
Don’t get me wrong…it’s great to see improvements with weight and measurements or see a client get faster or stronger.
But feeling better overall can carry over into so many facets of a client’s life.
You start moving better you can be more active. More exercise and activities with the family. Attend new events with friends.
With the increased activity you need better foods to nourish your body. Lean protein, veggies and fruits to build muscle and keep your vitamins and minerals in check.
Choosing better foods for yourself carries over to the family. Kids are active in sports, dance and other extra-curricular activities. They perform better when they are eating better.
You focus on reducing stress and start sleeping better so you have more energy each day. You are a better spouse, parent, sibling, daughter/son, friend, etc.
Awareness of what you do each day brings more enjoyment to the days and minimizes the stressors in your life.
These changes don’t happen overnight, but they are possible. Small steps each day to improve your fitness, nutrition and lifestyle habits will get you there if you trust the process and take action.
When you take that first step it is for you personally. When you keep at it every day it can morph into a family affair where you are all better for the changes you’ve made.
It’s worth your investment! I’d love to start talking about your actions and accountability to get this started. Contact me or learn more about our community!
